In order to protect the one’s we love, we often must keep them free from being overwhelmed with temptation.  The Internet is one of the most useful tools that we have today as far as instant access to communication.  It can also be used for some of the most sexually immoral behavior.  I have included directions on this page to help ensure that no inappropriate websites can be viewed on your computers at home.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Enabling Microsoft Internet Explorer’s Content Advisor for IE Version 6.

The content advisor limits what can be viewed on the internet.  It does this by acquiring a certificate from the web vendor.  Some sites do not have certificates, but you can still visit them by either typing in your password or adding them to your allowable web sites list.  Many sites will be blocked at first, but once you add them to your list, then you won’t have to do it again.  This is still not fail proof and nothing near as good as parent or responsible adult supervision.  CAUTION This needs to be set up for every profile on your computer if you have more than one profile.

1. With Internet Explorer open, select tools from the menu.

2. Select internet options from that menu.

3. Click on the content tab.

4. Click enable under the content advisor section.

5. The default ratings are selected for no inappropriate language, no nudity, nothing sexual, and nothing violent.

6. Click on the general tab.

7. Click create password.  Please do not forget your password!!

8. After creating a password click the OK button.

9. All of the other menus can now be closed.

10. Exit out of Internet Explorer.

11.  You have just successfully set up content advisor.

Adding sites to your allowable website list.
